HELICOPTER FLYING TRAINING SCHOOL

  

 

 

Introduction


Helicopter Flying Training School (HFTS) is located in PAF Base Peshawar. This was established as Rescue Flight in 1963. It was later raised to the level of the squadron in 1965. From 1965 to 1995 the school continued to perform its primary role of providing Search and Rescue to PAF related flying and also to other aviation agencies operating in nearby vicinity. In 1995, the squadron was given the additional task of conducting Basic Helicopter Conversion Course and Qualified Helicopter Instructor Course. For this purpose the squadron was given the status of Helicopter Flying Training School in 1995. The main role of HFTS is Search and Rescue, Helicopter Flying Training including Basic Helicopter Conversion and Qualified Helicopter Instructor Courses.


 

Courses


The School has so far conducted 05 Qualified Helicopter Instructor courses, out of which four courses have been run for officers from United Arab Emirates and 17 Basic Helicopter Conversion courses for officers from PAF. The Squadron has also been facilitating delegations & officers from friendly countries like officers from Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. In addition to this, the School has also conducted several annual categorization examinations of helicopter pilots of the PAF. In a short span of time, Helicopter Flying Training School has attained high standards of flying training and ground schooling. At present the school is recognized, both within the country and among friendly countries abroad, as a fine training institute of PAF
